Teacher Has Sex With Teen, Then Cops Find 1 Twisted Detail In Her Photos

A Lockhart, Texas, teacher was arrested after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Sarah Fowlkes, who had worked for Lockhart High School since October of 2014, reportedly turned herself in after officers received a report from a school administrator about a potential sexual relationship between a teacher and student. The 17-year-old victim subsequently revealed to police that he had been contacting Fowlkes through message and seeing her in person, and that their relationship was sexual.

Fowlkes, the Houston Chronicle reported, had been married since 2013 and taught Anatomy, Physiology and Environmental Systems at the high school. She was suspended following the investigation and parents at the school were notified of the allegations. Fowlkes, 27, previously claimed to have “very high expectations” of herself as a teacher, according to a description on the school’s website.

“I want this to be an enjoyable year for all of my students but also a productive, challenging and encouraging year with success for everyone,” the description read.

In a statement, the Lockhart Independent School District said that Fowlkes was reported to Child Protective Services and the Lockhart Police Department after the allegations came to light.

“Lockhart parents entrust their children to us every day, and it is something we do not take lightly,” Superintendent Susan Bohn said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle.

“Student safety is the district’s most important priority. As soon as we learned of the report, we acted swiftly to involve law enforcement and CPS to conduct a thorough investigation. The district does not and will not tolerate any improper communication or contact between a teacher and child.”

Many readers questioned the teacher’s motives for starting a sexual relationship with a student.

“Why would she risk everything including her marriage, her career, and her reputation. Am amazed every time I read this about an educator. What is this world coming to,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.

“She needs to go to prison for being a pedophile,” another wrote.

“Women get a lighter sentence than if a man did the same. Not fair,” another added.

Others questioned why Fowlkes appeared to be smiling in her mugshots.

“She is smiling because she doesn’t think that anything but a slap on the wrist will happen to her! She thinks that because she is blond and pretty that she can do anything that she wants and get away with it. If this would have been a male teacher and not very handsome he would have the books thrown at him. We need to stop looking at the appearance of someone and judge them by their actions,” one Houston Chronicle reader commented.
