Teacher Kidnaps Girl, Caught Buying Something Shocking
A Tennessee teacher who kidnapped a young student was caught on surveillance video reportedly purchasing women’s hair dye before running away with the 15-year-old (video below).
Tad Cummins is currently on the run with 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas, a student of his at the school where we worked. Just one week before running away with the girl, police said Cummins searched the web to find information about teen marriage.
One month earlier, a student reported witnessing a kiss between Cummins and Thomas – though both denied any inappropriate contact at the time.
“She may not realize that she’s a victim, but she is certainly a victim,” Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine told The Tennessean. “She needs help, she needs our best efforts and she needs the attention of this country to be on the lookout for her.”
Though hundreds of tips as to the whereabouts of Cummins and Thomas poured into law enforcement offices, there have not been any credible sightings so far of the pair. DeVine said that it was “very rare” for no credible sightings to have been reported a week after an AMBER alert was issued for a missing person.
Cummins’ wife, Jill, appeared at a press conference and pleaded to her husband to turn himself in.
“Tad, this is not you,” she said. “This is not who you are. We can help you get through this, no matter how far you’ve gone or what’s happening right now. God’s grace is suffiencent for you and he wants you to come home. Your family wants their poppy back. Please do the right thing and turn yourself into the police and bring Beth home.”
According to an Inside Edition report, Elizabeth Thomas changed her status on social media to “wife” and compared herself to the character of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
“I’m confused as to why Cummins was caught in his classroom kissing Thomas and he got a slap on the wrist. Then after being told to stay away from one another it happened again. Then the school took one solid week to tell the parents,no heads up what so ever,in the mean time maybe this could have been avoided had the parents known. We’re just praying he comes to his senses and I use that term loosely, and releases her,” one Mad World News reader commented in response to the story on the site’s Facebook page.
“Seems she went willingly. Still against the law. What 15 year old girl in love thinks about the consequences. He should know better,” another added.
