Trump: I’d Crush Clinton If Not For ‘Disgusting’ Media

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said on August 15 that the reason he is losing in the polls to Democratic rival Hillary Clinton is because of biased coverage from the “corrupt” media.

“If the disgusting and corrupt media covered me honestly and didn’t put false meaning into the words I say, I would be beating Hillary by 20 [percent],” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The Republican candidate threw some jabs at the New York Times, after the newspaper published a piece on August 13 that referenced anonymous sources describing him as “exhausted, frustrated and still bewildered by fine points of the political process.”

“In private, Mr. Trump’s mood is often sullen and erratic, his associates say,” the Times piece reads. “He veers from barking at members of his staff to grumbling about how he was better off following his own instincts during the primaries and suggesting he should not have heeded their calls for change.”

Trump hit back, saying that the anonymous conversations in the piece “never happened” and that the paper’s reporting is “fiction.”

“The media protects Hillary!” he wrote on Twitter. “The failing [New York Times], which never spoke to me, keeps saying that I am saying to advisers that I will change. False, I am who I am-never said.”

He went on to say that Clinton is “not a talented person or politician” but is only beating him in the polls because “the dishonest media refuses to expose” her.

“I am not only fighting Crooked Hillary, I am fighting the dishonest and corrupt media and her government protection process,” he wrote. “People get it! It is not “freedom of the press” when newspapers and others are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!”

Trump also said that the media does not “properly” cover his rallies and only focuses on negative aspects.

“They never discuss the real message and never show crowd size or enthusiasm,” said Trump.
