Trump Labels Obama ‘The Most Ignorant President Ever’

Republican nominee Donald Trump held a press conference on July 27, day three of the Democratic National Convention, in which he took aim at both President Barack Obama and his rival, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Among his slew of attacks, Trump called Obama “ignorant.”

Taking aim at Clinton, Trump referenced the recent leak of thousands of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee. The hacks, which are likely from Russia, were seen as a benefit to Trump’s campaign.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Trump said at the Miami conference, reports USA Today. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

Jake Sullivan, Clinton’s senior policy adviser, quickly fired back at Trump for “[encouraging] a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent.”

“That’s not hyperbole; those are just the facts,” Sullivan added. “This has gone from being a matter of curiosity and a matter of politics to being a national security issue.”

Brian Fallon, press secretary for Clinton, also responded to Trump’s call on Russia, reports MSNBC.

“Andrea, that is a galling statement from the Republican nominee for president of the United States,” Fallon told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell. “Donald Trump, who is seeking to become our commander-in-chief, is now openly inviting Russia to engage in cyber-attacks against the United States. This is a bridge too far.”

But Trump’s words on Clinton were not his only claims of the day. Trump also took aim at Obama, reports USA Today.

“There’s no change,” Trump began, referring to a potential Clinton presidency. “It’s going to be an extension of Obama.”

Trump then called Obama “the most ignorant president in our history,” adding, “I believe that Hillary Clinton will be even worse.”
