Trump Publishes ’50 Facts’ On Hillary Clinton

AmericaNow Staff  ·  June 27, 2016

Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump has released an exhaustive document detailing 50 separate allegations against presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s record.

On June 26, Trump took to social media to share a link to the document, which is a downloadable file from his own official campaign website, according to The Hill.

“Top 50 Facts About Crooked Hillary Clinton From Trump ‘Stakes Of The Election’ Address,” the presumptive GOP nominee tweeted out.

The document clocks in at 35 pages, listing out 50 different assertions about the former Secretary of State with additional elaboration and links to journalistic sources as evidence.

The document is an annotated version of a speech Trump delivered in New York on June 22. Uncharacteristically reading from a teleprompter, the business mogul slammed Clinton’s record and accused her of being a chronic liar, the Los Angeles Times reports.

During his speech, Trump said Clinton was possibly “the most corrupt person ever to seek the presidency.”

In the 35-page document, Trump attacks Clinton on her trade policies, her ties to special interests, her alleged political favors paid to donors, her work as Secretary of State, and her campaign promises to continue the policies of President Barack Obama.

Despite the exhaustive amount of journalistic quotations attached to every bullet point, not every assertion in the document can be labeled a “fact.”

For example, a sizable portion of Trump’s speech attacked Clinton’s role in the Benghazi attack in 2012. The business mogul accused the former Secretary of State of sleeping soundly in her bed while the attack unfolded. The document takes great pains to back up this claim.

Strangely, the quote that the document uses to back up said claim comes from a source who later admitted he couldn’t substantiate the presumptive Republican nominee’s allegation.

Additionally, The Pulitzer Prize winning Politifact rated Trump’s statement patently false, noting that while the Benghazi attack took place in the early morning hours of Libya’s timezone, the incident occurred in the afternoon in Washington, D.C., while Clinton was indeed working.

Two new polls released on June 26 found that Clinton currently leads Trump in a potential general election contest. In a survey conducted by the Washington Post-ABC News, Clinton scored 51 percent support while Trump trailed behind by 39 percent, Syracuse Local reports.

Another survey conducted by Wall Street Journal-ABC News showed a more modest lead for the former Secretary of State, with Clinton leading Trump 46 to 41 percent support.
