Trump Still Polls Strongly Among Republicans

Despite having charted record low approval ratings for a U.S. president this early in a term, President Donald Trump still remains in high esteem among Republicans.

”The bad news for you and your colleagues is that writing about the national numbers in this environment is a useless exercise,” said David Carney, a Republican pundit and former adviser to multiple presidential candidates. ”People are arguing over Super Bowl ads, the country is divided.”

Polls show Republicans support Trump’s policies across the board.

A Gallup poll found the majority of Americans do not support Trump’s travel ban executive order, with 55 percent against it and 42 percent for the ban. But among Republicans, 83 percent support the executive order, reports The Washington Post

CBS News polling found 85 percent of Republicans approve of the travel ban.

Gallup found Trump’s proposal to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall gets support from 80 percent of Republicans.

Approximately 66 percent of Republicans polled advocate removing regulations for businesses, while 65 percent of Republicans support cutting business taxes.

A Post-ABC poll showed approximately 79 percent of Republicans support reviving the Keystone XL pipeline.

Trump has stronger support in the states that could predict the outcome of the 2018 midterm elections for the Senate, according to the Washington Examiner.

To shift the Senate to a Democratic majority, Democratic candidates must win votes in red states, most of which were won by Trump.

”He is a disaster for sure,” said a Republican insider from Missouri, commenting on his state’s perception of the president. ”Funny thing is, back home, it’s just not that way.”

Republican pundits claim public outcry over Trump’s capabilities as president originate primarily from ”high-population metro centers,” such as Chicago, Los Angeles and New York.
