Trump’s Doctor Wrote His Medical Report In Five Minutes

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s personal physician has admitted that he wrote his glowing letter describing the business mogul’s health in the span of five minutes.

On Aug. 26, Dr. Harold Bornstein told NBC News that he hurriedly wrote the letter while a limousine sent by Trump waited outside his office for delivery. That letter is the only medical information on the GOP nominee that has been publicly disclosed.

Bornstein had written: “If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”

The physician also wrote that Trump suffered from no significant ailments and that his tests “showed only positive results.”

Trump had announced that he would disclose a full medical report on his physical health in December 2015. Bornstein had two weeks to pen the report, but waited until the last minute and ultimately wrote just four paragraphs describing the GOP nominee’s health in hyperbolic terms.

Bornstein said that he was proud of his declaration that Trump would be the healthiest president ever, explaining “all the rest of them are either sick or dead.”

The physician added that he had written the letter in a rhetorical style similar to Trump’s because the GOP nominee had rubbed off on him.

“I think I picked up his kind of language and then just interpreted it to my own,” Bornstein said.

Bornstein has been Trump’s personal physician for nearly four decades. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. While he admitted that Trump does take a daily dose of aspirin and statin for cholesterol, he stands by his assessment that the GOP nominee is healthy.

“I don’t think he’s in any better or worse than the average person that goes and exercises every day,” Bornstein said. “Doesn’t smoke, doesn’t drink — and that’s simply the best advantage you can have to live — and he’s got a good family history.”

The physician’s interview occurred three days after famed neurosurgeon and medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta questioned Bornstein’s credentials on CNN.

“He’s been a doctor with Trump for 36 years, between him and his father,” Gupta said. “He says he’s a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, so a GI doc. Interestingly, we called that particular organization and they said he was a member — but he hasn’t been a member there in over 20 years, since [1995] now.”

Gupta was also bothered by Bornstein’s assertions in the letter, particularly his proclamation that Trump would be the healthiest president ever.

“How do you know that?” Gupta continued. “How would you — that’s unknowable! One is part doctor, one part historian. That type of hyperbole is typically never used … Here you have a lot of language, with not a lot of data to back it up.”

Gupta added that he believed the letter was not enough to satisfy the public record about Trump’s health, particularly because of the business mogul’s habit of bragging “about not needing to sleep much [and eating] fast food.”

Meanwhile, Trump and his campaign surrogates have been repeatedly calling into question the health of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, WJLA reports.

On Aug. 16, Trump stated during a campaign event: “[Hillary Clinton] lacks the mental and physical stamina.”

Former Republican Mayor Rudy Giuliani of New York, a Trump ally, has repeatedly remarked that Clinton looks sickly to him.

On Aug. 18, Trump campaign spokeswoman Katrina Pierson alleged on television that Clinton had a language disorder linked to brain disease, The Washington Post reports.

“It’s something that needs to be addressed,” Pierson said.

While the Trump campaign has called Clinton’s health into question, the only publicly released medical record of the GOP nominee’s own health was admittedly written in a rush.

In his interview, Bornstein expressed his admiration for Trump but did not state whether or not he agreed with him politically.

“I like Donald Trump because I think he likes me,” Bornstein concluded.
