Pic Surfaces Of Vogue Writer Who Bashed Melania’s Shoes, Viewers Disgusted By 1 Detail
A Vogue writer wrote a scathing piece about First Lady Melania Trump’s choice of footwear while on her way to Texas from Camp David — and the internet quickly fired back at the writer’s own fashion choices.
Lynn Yaeger wrote a piece criticizing Trump for wearing snakeskin high heels while getting ready to board Air Force One before heading to Texas to respond to Hurricane Harvey.
Yaeger called out the first lady for wearing shoes that were “a challenge to walk in on dry land” to a part of the country where people were forced to “write their names and social security numbers on their arms.”
“Why, oh why, can’t this administration get anything, even a pair of shoes, right?” Yeager questioned.
Yaeger’s criticism was quickly met with passionate responses, with many readers calling Yaeger out on her own look.
“She works for vogue??? really???? the ‘fashion’ magazine????lol—-who is she ‘wearing’?? the same designer who ‘dressed’ the former white house occupant???” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“THAT works for vogue? you have to be kidding… she looks like a clown, and a scary one at that… at her age she should know how to dress and put makeup on correctly.. someone, quick wash her face and get rid of that ugly damn hair. she looks like something out of a nightmare… Vogue has lost me as a customer over this,” another reader wrote.
“I firmly believe all the meanness toward Melania stems from old fashioned jealousy. I mean LOOK at the ‘fashion editor’! Just which one is more attractive? ‘Nuff said,” a third reader added.
Yaeger wasn’t the only writer to criticize Trump for her footwear. Several publications wrote pieces about her choice of shoes for the trip.
“For her trip to Texas, the first lady offered up a fashion moment instead of an expression of empathy,” Washington Post fashion critic Robin Givhan wrote. “Heading off to Texas, she looked dressed to view a natural disaster from a distance, from on high, not up close. Her ensemble implied that people’s personal stories would be ferried to her after they had been vetted and tidied up.”
“Someone tell Melania she might want a pair of rain boots,” CNN reporter Amanda Carpenter quipped.
“Well if [Melania Trump’s] toes get wet in the floodwaters at least her heels should remain dry #sensiblefootwear,” BBC editor Jon Sopel tweeted.
