Widower Finds Heartwarming Note From Late Wife (Photo)

After a man’s wife of 60 years passed away, he found something left behind that he could not believe.

Jimmy and Billie Breland got married in 1954. Billie passed away in January 2015 at the age of 83.

Billie was a former public school teacher who had a habit of writing notes and reminders to herself, which she left around their Cleveland, Mississippi, home.

Jimmy was devastated by the loss of his wife. He didn’t know what to do after she passed away, but two days after her death, he made a surprising discovery.

According to Newsiosity, Jimmy was looking through his wife’s belongings when he found a note in her checkbook. He pulled it out to see what she had written to herself, but the note wasn’t for her – it was for him.

“Please don’t cry because I died!” Billie wrote in the note to her husband. “Smile because I lived! Know that I’m in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I’ll see you there!”

According to LittleThings, Cliff Sims, Billie and Jimmy’s grandson, wrote about the story for Yellowhammer News in 2015 and the touching story quickly went viral.

Sims wrote that the note “perfectly sums up the hope and comfort that comes with knowing you’ll meet again in eternity.”

He wrote about the role that his grandparents played in their local community.

“Hundreds of family and friends flooded the funeral home the night of the visitation,” Sims wrote. “She had been a public school teacher and my Grandaddy had been the Baptist student minister at the local university for forty years and preached at just about every church in the Mississippi Delta, so there was hardly anyone in town they hadn’t touched in some way.”
