Sailors Wife Shared Maternity Pic, Family Stunned By What Else It Caught

A military wife whose husband was forced to miss their pregnancy photo shoot did the next best thing – hiring a photographer to photoshop him into the picture.

Wesley Bedwell was deployed at perhaps the toughest possible time, and as a result missed his wife’s entire pregnancy.

“A month after we found out I was pregnant, he deployed,” 19-year-old Nicole Bedwell told Inside Edition. “It’s our first baby. Luckily I had a really good pregnancy, but it definitely sucks.”

The mom-to-be had the idea to enlist her maternity photographer, Traci Fugitt, to crop a picture of her husband from overseas into the maternity photo as a way to include him.

“It was just something we talked about. I just wanted him in the picture because he wasn’t able to be here during the whole pregnancy so she cropped him in,” Bedwell said.

When she finally saw the finished photos, Bedwell was stunned.

“I cried, both of our families cried,” she said. “It’s been really emotional for me to have my husband gone my whole pregnancy, so the fact that Traci was able to include him in my maternity session was very emotional. We will never be having our first child again. He’s my family, so having him included touched my heart. It made me happy.”

Ultimately, Bedwell was able to have her husband by her side for the birth of their child after she developed hypertension and the decision was made to have her pregnancy induced.

In a similar story, a Fort Campbell, Tennessee, soldier and his wife welcomed quadruplets into the world after a difficult pregnancy. The couple learned they were pregnant just after the mother finished chemotherapy to treat Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

“She called me on the phone, and we’re in a Humvee and I kinda couldn’t really hear her,” Charles Gaytan told WKRN. “It was truly some of the best news I’ve ever gotten in my life.”

Kayla Gaytan’s cancer returned during her pregnancy, after she started experiencing symptoms.

“You think you’ve beat it the first time. When it comes back, you’re just wondering why get pregnant with these four babies and then, you know, something like this happens,” she said.

The four babies were delivered successfully, with all of them healthy. They were born at 30 weeks.

Kayla was given a 50 percent chance of survival over the next five years, but said she’s confident that she’ll be able to make it for her babies.

“We know that He’s gotta have a different plan up there for us, and surely everything’s gonna work out in the end,” she said.
