A Texas woman whose breasts were so large that they caused excruciating pain, which landed her in the emergency room, has revealed her shocking transformation following a breast reduction surgery.

Kerisha Mark, 40, has gone through with a surgery to reduce her breast size from 36NNN down to a double-D cup.

Mark told the Washington Post that before her surgery, “I could not run or jump or work out at all. I was very limited in a lot of things I could do.”

In addition to being restricted from simple exercise, Mark suffered excruciating pain that would shoot through her chest at random times. The pain was so severe that Mark was convinced at times that she was having a heart attack.

When the high school social worker went to the emergency room following one of her attacks, doctors told her that she was not having a heart attack, but that her pain was in fact being caused by her breasts.

According to the New York Daily News, Mark’s breasts continued to grow through her 30s, until they reached triple-N size, with each breast weighing in at 15 pounds. The growth was caused by a rare hormonal condition called gigantomastia, in which a woman’s breasts exceed 3% of her body weight, causing severe pain and skin stretching.

Finally, after years of suffering through her condition, Mark decided to get breast reduction for her 40th birthday.

Mark met with Franklin Rose, a Houston-based plastic surgeon, about the procedure.

“The breasts really hung down to her hips and were essentially like carrying around three basketballs at all times because they were so large,” Rose told the Washington Post. “When we went into the exam room – I don’t know if I would use this word ‘shocking,’ but it was certainly startling to see breasts of that magnitude.”

The surgery took four hours to complete and while Rose said the procedure is generally the same regardless of breast size, he said he removed 15 pounds of tissue. She was left with a healthier DD breast size following the procedure.

“The challenge is not so much what you remove, but what you leave behind to make a pretty breast,” Rose said. “We left her with a nice full DD that she was very happy with.”

Now, Mark says she is adjusting to life post-surgery. She says that her symptoms have disappeared and that she has been feeling much better. While she lost weight from the surgery itself, Mark says she has dropped another 10 pounds in recent weeks thanks to the ability to be more active.
