Woman Orders Chicken Wings, Gets Stack Of Cash Instead

AmericaNow Staff  ·  March 22, 2017

A California woman found something completely unexpected when she opened the box of chicken wings she ordered.

Selena Avalos from San Jose, California, ordered chicken wings for lunch from her local Domino’s. When she opened up the box, she was stunned by what she saw inside.

Avalos was not given chicken wings at all. Initially she thought she may have been mistakenly given breadsticks, but when she opened the box, she found several thousands of dollars in cash.

Selena immediately called back the Domino’s from which she ordered to let them know what had happened. She hoped to get in touch with a manager, but she never received a call back.

“Wouldn’t they be thinking, ‘Where did that money go?'” Avalos asked.

Unsure of what to do, Avalos asked KGO-TV for help. The news station was able to find contact information for the franchise owner after getting in touch with corporate.

According to KGO, Avalos returned the money after speaking with the manager and was rewarded with free pizza for a whole year. Her employer also appreciated her honesty, so she was given a week off of work, with pay.

Avalos was not the first person to get a delivery of thousands of dollars from Domino’s. According to KNTV, Mike Vegas, 42, received a stack of cash inside a wing box in September 2015.

“I thought I was going to get Friday off, so I got a large pizza and wings, but then I got a phone call that I would have to go into work,” Vegas explained.

Vegas says he then took a piece of pizza, put the food away, and got into the shower. When he got home from work later that night, he was shocked by what he found.

“I got off work really late, and when I came back home I found the cash in the delivery box — a refrigerated deposit … I was rubbing my eyes at 5 a.m., laughing at myself,” he said.

Vegas went to sleep and when he woke up, he had a number of calls and texts from the delivery driver, who was desperately trying to get the money back. He called the driver back and returned the cash to the restaurant. But before the cash was returned, Vegas had to post about the incident on Facebook.

“When you order Dominoes Pizza and instead of wings you get cash…” he wrote in the post.

The cash was split into two stacks. One totaled $623 and the other $666.

Vegas says he was offered free pizza for a year as well for the mix up. He posted an update on his Facebook page.

“Conclusion – driver is safe and keeps his job, money is back at Dominoes, I was offered free pizza for a year,” he wrote.
