3 Women Who Beat Friend Non-Stop For 2 Days, Killed Her Give Just One Simple Reason
A Alabama woman was held hostage and beaten to death by three friends who reportedly wanted to get their hands on her boyfriend’s food stamps.
Karen Kirby, a friend of Jefferson County resident Miranda Lynch, initially admitted to hitting Lynch several times with various objects during an argument – which investigators initially believed is what cost Lynch her life. It wasn’t until the investigation continued that the horrifying circumstances surrounding her death became clear.
“I didn’t think this story could get any worse but obviously as we have learned, it can and it did,” Chief Deputy Randy Christian told AL.com. “It wasn’t just a simple, angry argument that took this woman’s life, it was three women gripped by, and driven by, pure greed.”
Along with Kirby, two other friends – Susan Otts and Tamara Giarrusso – were arrested and charged with Lynch’s murder after Kirby’s initial admission.
Police were first alerted to the scene of the murder when a man called 911 saying he could hear women screaming from inside of a mobile home. When authorities arrived, they discovered Lynch dead on the floor of the bathroom.
Detectives ultimately learned that Lynch and her boyfriend had been staying with Kirby at the mobile home, and that the boyfriend borrowed Kirby’s car to pick up his EBT card on August 5, 2015. While on his way to pick up the card, he was in a severe crash with an 18-wheeler that left him critically injured.
Kirby, Otts and Giarrusso assumed the boyfriend would not survive the crash, and ultimately devised a plan to steal his EBT card by making a duplicate card.
They then asked Lynch to give them his social security card and I.D. so they could obtain the card, but Lynch refused – prompting them to hold her against her will for two days and beat her several times. She ultimately died from the beatings.
“It is hard to believe three relatively sane women could be capable of something like this, yet here we are with the rest of the story. Let the record show I did say relatively,” Christian said. “It is so sad to think about what this poor woman had to go through at the hands of these three. They will be held accountable for it.”
Many readers called for the women to receive the harshest punishment possible for their disturbing crime.
” It is time to bring back the death penalty for such inhumane and disgusting crimes. We should not be expected to keep up and house these types of animals just because they walk on two legs,” one Mad World News reader commented on the site’s Facebook page.
“Again please execute these evil murderers to protect the innocent. Our justice system no longer works we will need to return to common sense. These animals should not remain on earth,” another added.
